TAPMI gets AICTE nod for HR programme

The PGDM will give students an opportunity to take the SHRM global certification exam

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has given its approval to TA Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal to offer postgraduate diploma programme in human resource management.

A press release by TAPMI said on Wednesday that the postgraduate diploma in Human Resources Management (PGDM-HR) will give the students an opportunity to take the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) global certification exam.

The curriculum aligns with the ‘HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates’ set by the SHRM. It developed these guidelines to define the content areas that an HR student must study at the undergraduate and graduate level.

The graduates from PGDM-HR programme will be skilled in five streams that make a difference to businesses — leadership competencies, including the use leadership psychometrics, and coaching; use of analytics, evidence-based HR and managing technology; creating and changing culture to align the organisation with strategy; design and change organisational structure to meet strategy using contemporary organisational development techniques; and strong industrial relations and negotiation skills.

The students will be groomed under TAPMI’s Leadership Assessment and Development Centre, and trained to become opinion leaders through a detailed research of contemporary HR topics, which they will publish in an academic or industry-related journal, the press release said.

Director of the institute Madhu Veeraraghavan said TAPMI is committed to providing the highest quality HR education.
