XLRI gets AICTE approval to start XLRI Delhi-NCR campus

Will start 2020-22 batch with 120 students in Business Management programme; plans range of courses

Xavier School of Management (XLRI), which recently received AICTE approval, has commenced the admission process for the first batch of students at its Delhi-NCR campus for the academic session 2020-2022. The first batch will comprise 120 students (two sections of 60 students each) in the business management programme.

The foundation stone for the new campus was laid in January 2017. The new campus is the first branch of XLRI, Jamshedpur, ranked among the country’s top B-schools. Totally, 590 candidates have been offered admission across the Jamshedpur and Delhi campuses.

The classes for the first semester, set to commence in August, will be held online across both its campuses in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, a senior official at XLRI told BusinessLine .

“XLRI is India’s first B-School and, for 70 years, we had just one campus at Jamshedpur. We are glad to announce that XLRI’s Delhi-NCR campus is all set to start with 120 students for the Business Management programme for the 2020-22 academic session with AICTE approval,” Fr. P. Christie S.J., Director, XLRI, said in a press statement.

According to Fr. George Sebastian, S.J, Director, XLRI Delhi-NCR campus, nearly 95,000 students appear for the entrance examination of XLRI every year. The commencement of the Delhi-NCR campus would help the institute augment its intake to 600 students. Both the campuses will have the same pedagogy and curriculum and will follow one admission process — the XAT — and a uniform placement process as well.

More courses on the anvil

While XLRI currently offers only the business management programme at its new campus, it plans to roll out a broad portfolio of courses including the regular, two-year post-graduate programmes in Human Resource Management and Business Management — PGDM HRM & PGDM BM. This apart, the 15-month Executive General Management Programme for executives with experience of more than five years, and the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) will also be offered in the future.

“Corporate programmes, a Certificate Programme in Entrepreneurship and other industry-relevant short- and long-term programmes will be launched in a phased manner,” the release said.
