As many as 556 students, including 22 PhD students, have graduated from the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIITH). At the 21st Convocation held on Saturday, as many as 133 students in master’ courses have also graduated from the institute.

“About 28 per cent of the 556 graduates have earned their degree based on a high-quality thesis,” P J Narayanan, Director, IIITH, has said. The 2022 batch is the first batch to graduate based on the new academic curriculum revised and implemented in 2018.

Jivitesh Jain, BTech Computer Science, and Engineering (CSE) has received a gold medal for scoring ‘a perfect 10 CGPA’, a first in the institute. Tanvi Karandikar (B.Tech in CSE) and Madhukar Dwivedi (Master of Science in CSE by Research) were awarded Best All-rounders for their ‘notable contributions’ in academics, extracurricular activities and IIITH services.

145 companies have registered for conducting placements, while 76 companies conducted online recruitments and 57 companies made job offers to the graduating students.

“Our students’ world was turned upside down in March 2020 by the global pandemic. The Bachelors and Masters students did most of the heavy courses in an online mode, without the interactions with classmates and teachers that enrich the academic experience,” Narayanan said.

“Inherent grit made them work hard and focus on academics amidst everything that was going on around them. This is perhaps the most resilient batch to graduate from the institute,” he added .
