Alagappa University, Karaikudi, TamilNadu has announced the launch of the online learning portal www.auedu.in , which will offer high quality undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in multiple domains. The university announced this as an initiative to expand its offerings in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
These high-quality online degrees shall enable learners to learn from and engage with the excellent faculty of Alagappa University virtually. The learners will also have the opportunity to appear for the remote proctored exams from anywhere through www.auedu.in. The learning shall be a mix of live sessions supplemented with study guides, practice tests, discussion forums, recorded tutorials, and ‘gamified’ modules, says a press release from the institute.
New niches
Through its learning portal, the university will offer MBA specialisations such as general management, financial management, human resource management, logistics management, and tourism management to help learners prepare for management careers. Other postgraduate programmes offered online include MA in Journalism and Mass Communication, MA in English, and Master of Commerce. The platform will also offer Bachelor of Business Administration to aspirants. Besides this flagship undergraduate programme, Alagappa University will offer BCom and BA in Tamil as an undergraduate offering on the portal.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr N Rajendran, Vice-Chancellor, Alagappa University, said “The NEP 2020 opened the door for the launch of online degrees by the top 100 universities of India. These online degrees will offer aspirants an engaging, classroom-like learning with personalised support to ensure learning and growth. For us, this is a start to a glorious, new chapter in the history of this illustrious institution.”

The learning resources of the online programmes of Alagappa University for every subject are engaging and interactive, and will enable learners to grasp the fundamentals while also learning from real-life, industry case studies. With greater internet connectivity and rising aspirations of a young India, the launch of these programmes will further the cause of high-quality higher education in India as envisaged in the NEP 2020.
The launch of www.auedu.in will open the gates for higher Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in Higher Education which currently stands at 27.4 per cent. The launch of the platform is to help meet the changing industry dynamics by equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge, and to eliminate the shortage of highly skilled workforce.
