Artificial intelligence is cracking open the Vatican's Secret Archives

A new project called In Codice Ratio gives people better access to the archives

The Vatican Secret Archives is one of the greatest documentations of history. It houses 53 linear miles of shelving dating back more than 12 centuries. But only a few milimetres of that are available online.

Until now, there hasn't been a way to transfer all that data online without draining all resources. A new project called In Codice Ratio could change all that. Check out this article in The Atlantic for details.
