Thailand holds bird singing competitions

The birds come in decorated bamboo cages and are hung onto hooks at a height of 3 metres

If one gets creative, there are enough and more ways to make money. In Thailand, there is an unusual tradition to mint a buck — weekly and annual bird singing competitions which see participation from over 1,000 contestants.

These events held at Thailand’s second largest island Ko Samui and have grown to gain popularity because they are an easy method to make some money (almost 3,000 baht during the weekly events).
