Cast and crew of 'Manjhi: The Mountain Man' visit IIM Indore

The academic block of IIM Indore

Students threw questions, mainly at Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who shared his story

The evening of August 4 saw IIM Indore come alive, when the cast of Manjhi: The Mountain Man made an appearance at the campus. Actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte and director Ketan Mehta interacted with students, who couldn’t have enough of them.

The interaction began with an unexpected entry of stand-up comic Daniel Fernandes, who had the audience in splits with his appropriately-timed inappropriate jokes. Soon, the cast descended on the stage and interacted with the students, talking about the importance of continuing to work towards whatever it is that one wants.

Siddiqui steals hearts

The auditorium was packed with students throwing questions, mainly at Siddiqui. He shared the story of how he needed a whole month to come out of character after the shooting of the movie; how his mother’s letters kept him inspired on his faltering path to success in Bollywood; and even how his training at NSD allows him to shoot multiple movies with varied characters at the same time.

The theme for the evening was the power of Do-It-Yourself ventures and inspiration. Three social initiatives from within the IIM Indore community were felicitated by the stars.

The evening ended with Siddiqui giving in to audience’s demand to recite a few dialogues from Badlapur, Gangs of Wasseypur as well as Manjhi.

Manjhi is the story of one man and a mountain that he brought down, single handedly, over 22 long years.
