This will further enhance the quality of education in universities with global touch,” said the Chief Minister. The COE status will also help these universities develop the infrastructure including library, laboratories, classroom, hostels, and faculties at par with the international level.

The decision will boost prospects for higher education, research, innovation and start-ups besides international exchange to benefit students with international best practices. The seven universities will prepare the action plan and submit for review before the Chief Minister.

CEPT's Dr Patel said, “The in-principle recognition as a Center of Excellence, and the autonomy that comes with it, is a big responsibility. We would like to strengthen our efforts towards having a means blind admissions process — which means that no student should lose the opportunity of studying at CEPT due to lack of financial means.”
