Covid has been a tremendous catalyst for transformation with digital technologies getting adopted at an unbelievable rate. The new India that emerges in the coming decade can be the global leader in R&D, science and technology, AI, advanced manufacturing and next generation products and services, according to N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons.
Delivering his Graduation address the Indian School of Business e-graduation ceremony held today over a zoom interface for Hyderabad and Mohali campuses, the Tata Sons Chiarman said, “We have the right human capital. We just need to make the right investments. This is a decade of consequence for us as a nation. Today’s geopolitical context provides an unparalleled opportunity for India to navigate the world order and take lead in becoming the next technology leader.”
‘Development curve’
He said, “We have what it takes to be a technology leader; we have already proven this in IT Services. Now, we have the skills and talent to lead in hi-tech, 5G, AI, data and robotics.” “Already we are seeing exciting innovation. Microgrids, for example, can power entire villages and towns, serving households, businesses, and public institutions like health care clinics and schools. This is the future of affordable, reliable and clean electricity, not just in India but around the globe,” he said.
“Given where India is in our economic development curve, this is also a great opportunity to create jobs through building a green economy, whether through solar installation, microgrids, sustainable cooling, and better waste management,” he said.
ISB celebrated its 20th Graduation Day with 692 students, Hyderabad (481) and Mohali (211) campus students graduating at the combined virtual Graduation Ceremony. Dean of the ISB, Professor Madan Pillutla said, "After completing two decades of meaningful and eventful years of national contribution, ISB is in for more promising and exciting times ahead.” Harish Manwani, Chairperson of ISB Executive Board, said, "For a successful business, 'values' and 'purpose' are more important than ever, as are 'people' in these trying times.
