IIM Ahmedabad celebrates 72nd Army Day

An interaction and awareness session was organised at the institute to commemorate the day

Army Day is celebrated on 15 January every year in India, in recognition of Field Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa’s taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on 15 January 1949.

The participants of Armed Forces Programme at IIM-A in association with the Army formation at Ahmedabad, organised an interaction and an awareness session on January 15 to commemorate the 72nd Army Day. Prof Errol D’Souza, Director, IIM-A and Station Commander, Ahmedabad, and the faculty and staff of IIM-A were present.

The Armed Forces Programme is a six-month fully residential programme offered by IIM-A leading to a Certificate in Business Management for selected officers from the three services. The participants include officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force.The present course comprises 58 officers with experience ranging from 10 to 25 years in diverse fields.
