IIM-C completes placements in less than two days

The institute received a total of 501 offers

Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C) secured 100 per cent placement for its 54th batch of PGP, comprising 441 students, in less than two days. The institute received a total of 501 offers, which means 15 per cent of the batch received more than one offer.

The average CTC was ₹24.96 lakh per annum, a rise of 3 per cent from last year. While 29 per cent of the candidates accepted offers in consulting, 21 per cent accepted roles in finance, said a press statement issued by IIM-C. The median salary was ₹23.5 lakh per annum, almost ₹1.5 lakh higher than a year before.

The institute attributed the brisk placements to an amalgam of initiatives undertaken in the past year. “Some student volunteers co-developed a scheduling system with a Bengaluru-based start-up aimed at increasing efficiency and ensuring maximisation of interface opportunities between students and recruiters. Automation has helped us,” said Prof Abhishek Goel, Chairperson CDPO, in the statement.

As many as 123 firms from diverse sectors participated in the placement process. Major consulting firms such as AT Kearney, Bain & Co, The Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Co made offers in double digit. Accenture was the largest recruiter with 24 offers accepted.

Some of the major companies which participated from the finance sector included Goldman Sachs, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citi, JP Morgan Chase, Deutsche Bank and Avendus.

New age firms in e-commerce, operations and product management attracted nearly 16 per cent of the batch, with 68 offers accepted, the release said. This apart, general management attracted 14 per cent of the batch, sales and marketing 12 per cent, while analytics offered 8 per cent of the jobs.
