IIM-K celebrates annual alumni reunion

An opportunity for current students and alumni to develop positive synergies and grow together

Around 170 Alumni of Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) gathered at their alma mater for the Annual Alumni Meet ‘Nostalgia’ in Kozhikode. The three-day homecoming for the former students of IIM-K turned into a huge occasion for the community of students, alumni and faculty alike.

The alumni association acts as a bridge between the illustrious alumni and their alma mater , giving the current students and the alumni a chance to develop positive synergies and grow together in this process. The event was attended by eminent alumni holding senior positions at such reputed companies as Boston Consulting Group (BCG), JP Morgan, and Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL). This included more than 25 alumni from the consulting domain, 15 from the finance domain, 10 from the marketing domain and close to 70 alumni from other domains or entrepreneurial ventures.

Activities such as quiz, workshop on effective job search, functional interactions and talent shows were organised, and a music and cultural extravaganza was teh grand finale of this meet, held from 18-20 October.

Addressing the vibrant gathering at a fireside chat held during the Annual General Meeting of the Alumni Meet, IIM-K Director Prof Debashis Chatterjee said: “I have a vision that extraordinary leaders will emerge from the alumni and if the alumni wants to support a cause which is about social justice and equity, we as an Institution will back that cause.” He encouraged the members to accept new challenges and to revel in them, adding, “Great things, and good leadership don’t happen through a precise plan, but one can always create a structure to capture excellence”.

Saya, an exhibition of art and paintings by the students, was another highlight of Nostalgia 2019 . The artwork on display captured and the journey of a student in a B-School, with several of the paintings also going under the hammer as the session progressed. Mrs Aditi Chatterjee, wife of Director IIM Kozhikode, and herself an accomplished painter, was the Chief Guest for this exhibition.

The meet also witnessed alumni pledging to contribute towards social and environmental causes which they reaffirmed with a symbolic gesture of planting a tree on the campus.
