IIM Kozhikode: One-year MBA for aspiring business leaders

Institute announces full-time, residential, post-graduate programme in business leadership

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode introduced a post-graduate management programme that focuses on developing potential business leaders. This full-time, residential, one-year programme addresses the need to provide focused, contemporary and holistic business leadership inputs to experienced executives who aspire for top jobs in large corporates.

Prof Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, said, “This leadership programme aims to systematically nurture and shape experienced minds into high potential leaders who are authentic, capable, multi-dimensional, and grounded in core values. The programme will transcend conventional management instruction and pedagogy to provide focused learning.”

Leadership roles

The programme will involve an admission process, unique curriculum and pedagogy that combines diverse perspectives to provide holistic inputs. “While we have put together just the most appropriate content in the curriculum, the highlight of the programme would be the learning methods that would attempt to bring out true leadership potential of the candidates through personalized and reflective learning approaches,” said Prof Chatterjee.

The gap for such an academic programme is identified based on the fact that a large number of corporates have been demanding focused inputs for their high-potential, mid-level executives that prepare them to take up leadership roles within the organisation. The chairperson of the new programme, Prof Venkataraman, who has served in corporate leadership roles, said, “Finding ready leadership talent has become increasingly difficult. Large companies today expect their HR departments to play a strategic role in identifying high potential candidates within the organisation early on and groom them for bigger roles towards developing a leadership pipeline. We would expect that corporations committed to development of leaders who combine both professional and organisational values, would encourage and facilitate their select executives to apply to the programme and discover their leadership potential.”
