JAGSOM to host global marketing consortium

The consortium has attracted 80+ marketing faculty across 20 countries and editors of 17 journals.

The 9th AIM-AMA Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium in India will be held at Jagdish Sheth School of Management (JAGSoM). The doctoral consortium will be held online for 6 days from June 25 to June 30, 2021. It is co-chaired by Prof A Parasuraman, Pro-Chancellor, Vijaybhoomi University, India, and Emeritus Professor, James W McLamore Chair Emeritus, University of Miami, US; and Dr Atish Chattopadhyay, Professor of Marketing and Director, Jagdish Sheth School of Management, India, and Vice-Chancellor, Vijaybhoomi University, India.

Background

The AIM-AMA Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium is a global marketing consortium that was conceived by Prof Jagdish Sheth to benefit doctoral scholars from emerging economies who could not attend the prestigious AMA Sheth Foundation DC which has been held regularly from 1966 onwards in the US. The doctoral consortium brings together doctoral students and faculty from B-schools across the globe, exposing them to a rich diversity of topics, methodological perspectives, and theories.

The agenda of the consortium includes 5 master classes, 9 plenary sessions, and 10 parallel track sessions. The consortium also features 'Meet the Editor' sessions where participants can meet 17 journal editors from prestigious journals. In addition, the consortium features 3 global cafes for doctoral students to present their research and seek feedback, and 3 global lounges to facilitate networking for all participants. The consortium concludes with a conscious capitalism simulation workshop.

International event

The consortium has attracted 80+ marketing faculty across 20 countries including the editors of 17 prestigious marketing journals. The event will be attended by 156 doctoral scholars and young faculty from 14 countries across the globe. The timings of the doctoral consortium have been adjusted to make it convenient for the scholars to participate. The event can beattended simultaneously across the globe based on the principle of ‘Follow the Sun.’

The participants of the consortium represent institutions in North America including the US and Canada; South America including Argentina; the Middle East and Africa including Ghana, Nigeria, Egypt, Turkey, Israel, South Africa, the UAE; Southeast Asia including India, China, Taiwan,Singapore, Philippines, Japan; Europe including the UK, Italy, France, Portugal, Norway, Netherlands; Eastern Europe including Kazakhstan as well as Australia and New Zealand.

Speaking about the consortium, Prof A Parasuraman said, “Capitalising on the pandemic-induced necessity of having to run this marketing doctoral consortium on a virtual platform, the organising committee has developed a truly unique event, with over eighty top marketing scholars mentoring and interacting with well over one hundred doctoral students and young faculty from around the world.”
