XLRI’s marketing fair attracts 10,000 people

Hosted the first fair in 1979; quizzes, cooking competition were organised for children and families

The Marketing Association of XLRI (MAXI) recently celebrated 41 years of its flagship event — MAXI Marketing Fair. The fair was first hosted in 1979, which makes it the oldest marketing fair conducted in a B-school, the institute said. It attracts upwards of 8,000 people for primary data collection for market research for various brands across categories and various SEC levels.

This year, over 10,000 people attended the fair.. Families participated in events such as ‘Healthy Jamshedpur Happy Jamshedpur’ and ‘Jamshedpur’s Favourite Family’. Over 85 children participated in the fashion show. Chef Wilson from The Golden Leaf Resorts engaged the participants with quizzes and a cooking competition.

Art attack, stand-up comedy

On day two, it started with ‘art attack’ event where more than 250 children participated, and this was followed with dance performances. This event was followed by the event — ‘Jamshedpur’s Favourite Family’ — where 40 families battled it out in a fun event hosted by Radio City RJ Manoj.

Comedians Sorabh Pant from East India Comedy and Kumar Varun from the Canvas Laughter Club entertained the the audience.
