IIT Jodhpur’s 7th Convocation sees 404 students graduate

27 PhD scholars, 130 MTech, 67 MSc, and 180 BTech students were awarded degrees.

A total of 404 students graduated at the seventh convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur. This included 27 PhD scholars, 130 MTech, 67 MSc, and 180 BTech students. Dr Rajesh Gokhale, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, was the Chief Guest.

The convocation also witnessed the first-time award of degree for candidates from multiple emerging postgraduate disciplines including MTech in Artificial Intelligence (AI); Advanced Manufacturing and Design (AMD); Thermo Fluids Engineering (TFE); Cyber Physical System (CPS); Sensors and Internet of Things (SIoT); Data and Computational Sciences (DCS), and Materials Engineering (MT).

Also, a total of 59 BTech. students will be conferred with specialisation or minor area certificates in AI, IoT, TFE, and robotics and minors in entrepreneurship and management along with their degrees.

This year, IITJ has instituted an unique fellowship scheme in remembrance of Prof Meghnad Saha, an eminent astrophysicist, to provide an option to young PhDs (belonging to SC /ST/ NCL-OBC/EWS categories) to have rich post-doctoral research and teaching experience at the institute.

Delivering his welcome address, Prof Santanu Chaudhury, Director, IIT Jodhpur, said, “IIT Jodhpur has embarked on an ambitious mission to establish itself as one of the top destinations in the country for a holistic education with the right mix of flexible academics, cutting-edge research, curiosity-driven innovation and a curriculum built on technology foresight. IIT Jodhpur’s curriculum resonates with National Education Policy 2020 guidelines.”
