IIT Madras ranks first for the third year in NIRF 2021

The second spot was taken IISc Bangalore followed by IIT Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has been ranked one in the overall category in the National Institutes Ranking Frameworks 2021 released by the Ministry of Education on Thursday. The second spot was taken Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore followed by IIT Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur.

In the University’s ranking, Bangalore’s IISc got the top spot while Jawaharlal Nehru University was ranked second and the third position was taken by Banaras Hindu University. Meanwhile in the engineering colleges, IIT Madras stood at the top spot followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay respectively. The NIRF was launched on September 29, 2015. The rankings are decided based on the parameters which includes, Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) and Peer Perception.
