Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, and Binghamton University, New York, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an academic and research cooperation between the two institutes.

The objective of the MoU is to establish a collaborative degree programme for the engineering students of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal, a constituent unit of MAHE. This programme will allow students from MIT to study for three-and-half years at MIT and one-and-half years at Binghamton University, resulting in a Bachelor’s degree from MAHE and Master’s degree from Binghamton University.

Lt Gen MD Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, and Madhusudhan Govindaraju, Vice Provost International Education and Global Affairs, Binghamton University, signed the MoU in Manipal recently.

Addressing the audience at the signing ceremony, Venkatesh said the academic programmes at MAHE are structured in such a way to prepare students to become global citizens. Both the institutions are encouraged to take this collaboration further and engage in innovative research aimed at addressing social needs, he said.

Madhusudhan Govindaraju said the students and faculty were the driving force behind this collaboration. The coming together of these two institutes of international repute will further increase the quality of education and opportunities for students and help them become global citizens, he said.
