NITK, Bosch ink pact for MTech in EV tech

National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) at Surathkal in Dakshina Kannada district has partnered with Bosch to offer M. Tech programme in ‘Power electronics and control for electric vehicle’.

In this regard, NITK has signed an agreement with Bosch Global Software Technologies Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, for starting an industry-sponsored MTech programme offered by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Dattatraya N Gaonkar, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of NITK, said the programme is designed in consultation with Bosch Global Software Technologies Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru.

Hybrid delivery

He said MTech will have strong theoretical courses and labs covering important topics in ‘Power electronics and control for electric vehicle’. The electric vehicle industry is growing rapidly, and there is a huge demand for technical skills sets in this segment, as most all the industries are focusing on it.

On students to the course, he said Bosch will select employees for the course, and NITK will admit them after proper screening. The course will be offered in hybrid mode. Classes for students will be conducted online and the examinations will be conducted at NITK-Surathkal.

Online classes will be held between 5 pm and 9 pm from Monday to Friday in a week. All other regulatory requirements are as per the regular residential postgraduate programmes of NITK, he said. Asked about the intake, he said the maximum intake for the course is fixed at 40. The course will begin from this academic year (2022-23) only.
