Brilliant comedian Steve Martin has been an art lover and serious collector of fine art for decades. Now he is co-curator of an exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario titled The Idea of North: The Paintings of Lawren Harris , that features over 30 major paintings by the revered Canadian painter and co-founder of the Group of Seven.

The travelling exhibition comes to Ontario via the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, where it debuted last fall, as well as the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, reports Alice Hopton in the Arts and Entertainment section of CBC News .

In an onstage conversation with co-curator Andrew Hunter at the AGO to launch the show, which opens on Canada Day (July 11) and goes on till September 18, Steve Martin said: “I always thought it was going to be a big hit,” Martin said of the exhibition. “I've always felt, just wait till they see these paintings all in one room.” Read more about Lawren Harris and see his stunning paintings here
