Co-optex ties up with Flipkart, Snapdeal

Growth in online business has necessitated the company to expand reach of its e-commerce portal

Wooing the younger generation, Co-optex has tied up with online stores Flipkart and Snapdeal, to make available its entire range of products.

Expanding their reach

The recent growth in online business has necessitated the company to expand the reach of its e-commerce portal, targeting both domestic and overseas buyers. It had recently carried out sales worth ₹10 lakh through online platform in the last three months through more than 350 confirmations, TN Venkitesh, Managing Director of Co-optex, said.

Venkitesh was at Ernakulam Press Club to launch the newly introduced organic saris in the Kerala market, to coincide with the Onam festival season.

The Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society, popularly known as Co-optex, has also joined hands with Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) Season 9, to showcase its various products including weaving of the Kancheepuram saris in the craft festival at Kozhikode.

Going green

As the trend towards cotton clothing is on the rise, he said Co-optex is looking at introducing organic kurtis, salwar kameez, linen shirts etc. The introduction of organic saris is in line with encouraging zero environment pollution through the usage of natural dyes and vegetable colours for production.

Co-optex has been serving as a platform for weavers of Tamil Nadu, since the past 80 years, to market their products. As a token of appreciation, the company has introduced ‘weaver thank you cards’ in all the clothing manufactured by weavers. This would enable them getting more orders from customers, he added.

At present, the products are available through 200 showrooms across the country and the company has clocked a business revenue of ₹306 crore in the last fiscal, with a ₹10 crore profit. With the growth in demand for Co-optex products, he said that the figure is expected to touch ₹350 crore this year.
