Apple gains in China; store’s web traffic rises

Apple to open 40 stores in greater China by mid-2016

Though Apple entered China relatively late, its key focus is the world's most populous country now. The tech giant plans to open about 40 stores in greater China by mid of 2016, reported BuzzFeed.

The company's April earnings report suggests that greater China has surpassed Apple's sales in Europe and has emerged as the second biggest market after the Americas.

Apple's CFO Luca Maestri is hopeful and said according to the report, Chinese market for Aplle is growing much faster than most parts of the world, if not soon, the possibility of China surpassing the US in terms of revenue cannot be ruled out in the long term.

John Paczkowski of Buzzfeed reports, the trend is replicated in online sales too. Web analytics firm SimilarWeb, which analysed the global web traffic to Apple’s online stores for four weeks has found that after the US, China is the China registers the second highest number of visits.

The US drew about 34.86 per cent of web traffic to the online store and China was responsible for 12.74 per cent, BuzzFeed reported.
