Companies are figuring out what individual customers will pay

It wasn't until the 1870s that price tags were introduced. Before that, salespersons were expected to assess customers and their needs, compare them with manufacturing costs, and come up with a suitable price. Now, with e-commerce and e-retail stealing the crowd, personalised pricing is making a comeback, with a twist.
