Banks look to MBA grads for wealth management profiles

More banks are moving away from investment banking and towards wealth management

The demand for wealth managers in Asian emerging markets — particularly mainland China, Hong Kong, and Singapore — is high, according to an article published in BusinessBecause.com. An INSEAD official says in the article that wealth management offices are looking to cater to the non-resident Indian population, and want to hire more talent from business schools to address these markets.

The BusinessBecause article by Seb Murray reports says that banks are recruiting more MBA grads and have a definite career path for them.

Why the shift?

The shift is due to banks pulling out of more risky investment banking activities, thus hiring more wealth managers than investment bankers. The career is fairly lucrative to B-School graduates as well, the article said, owing to its high salaries associated with wealth and asset management.
