Disney fires American for 'cheap' labour

If an article by NYT is to be believed, Disney fired 250 employees only to hire H1-B visa holders

To add insult to the injury, according to one former Disney employee who was laid off, the 250 employees had to stay on for 90 days more and train 'the new foreign recruits who could barely speak English.' Only then would they paid their 'severence allowance' which was 10% of their basic pay.

According to the article, the American employees were laid off for foreigners on h1-B visas, who are supposed to be cheaper to employ (as the minimum wage laws are easier to get around) and this practice has resulted in saving 26-49% for comapnies. The article only quotes one company which was hired to do this, and they are based out of Noida, India.
