Fanboys and fangirls cash in on unreleased Star Wars handouts

Upon their eventual release, these figures will be priced at $14

In what is not even the worst that fanboys and fangirls have been known to do, Star Wars freebies that were distributed at the annual E3 video-game conference held at Los Angeles have found their way to eBay, according to a report on Bloomberg. Because the collectibles, mostly figurines, haven’t been released to the public yet, their exclusive nature prompted the sellers to set the price really high, some fetching the conference attendees as much as $300 each. When these figurines eventually hit store shelves ahead of the December release of the film ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, they will be priced at $14.

The annual conference saw attendees, most of whom were gaming professionals, race to the Disney booth at the start of each day for the promotional toys. The popularity of these toys was so high that at times Disney had to close down the booth so as to meet the demand.

Rare figurines of characters like Darth Maul fetched nearly $300 on eBay, while those of popular characters like Chewbacca and Yoda sold for around $75.
