Ford recalls nearly 4.23 lakh vehicles

American Automaker Ford is recalling about 4.23 lakh cars and SUVs in North America due to a faulty power steering system. The power-assisted steering can fail anytime while the cars are being driven, according to NBC News .

Cars made between 2011 and 2013 are being recalled; they include certain Ford Flex and Taurus vehicles, as well as the Lincoln MKS and MKT from 2011 through 2013, the NBC article said.

According to Ford, an intermittent electrical connection can cause the power steering to stop, sending the steering into manual mode. It makes the vehicles harder to control.

Ford has asked its dealers to either replace the steering gear or update the power steering software.

The automaker is also recalling 19,500 Mustangs 2015 with 2.3-Liter engines. These cars will get heat shield replacement and added insulation. High underbody temperatures could degrade the fuel tank in 2015 Mustangs.
