Google update chokes web site

An algorithm tweak by Google today had unintended consequences on many websites, especially Hub pages, a collection of over eight lakh mini blogs which offer information on everything under the sun, says a report on CNBC. Hub pages saw its Google search traffic plunge 22 per cent last week over the prior week. According to the report, of the company's 100 top pages, 68 lost visitors over that stretch. Many small outfits saw their business evaporate overnight, and were left griping. Read the report here .
