Google’s Photos is no longer linked to Google+

Announcement comes in the heels of the ‘big revamp’ it promised at the developer conference

It is no secret that Google runs everyone’s life. In fact it has had such an impact that the word in itself is being used as a verb and this has been happening for a long time now.

At its recent developer conference, Google I/O, Google announced that it was doing a big revamp of its cloud-based photo sharing and storage product Photos. As it turns out, this revamp involved ‘uncoupling’ it from its Google+ social network and having it as a standalone app. Not just this, unlimited cloud storage was free. Except for two versions where the resolution of images is maintained, pretty much everyone, the lame user that is, could use the cloud storage facility for free. It even has a feature to delete photos on your phone, when you’ve run out of space, if it has been backed up on the cloud.

Why does Google want to store your images so badly, you ask? According to an article on TechCrunch, this is just a small move in the bigger scheme of things where Google wants all the data on everybody present on the planet. Obviously, that’s a bit of a hyperbole, but it is a known fact that Google loves data. It reading your e-mails is a clear indication of it. Click here to read the article
