Indonesia's volcano Mount Sinabung erupts

The volcano was last active in 2010, before which it had been dormant for centuries

One of Indonesia's volcanoes, Mount Sinabung has been very active since two weeks now and is spewing hot gases and ash, Mashable reported. The situation has alarmed local villagers who live in surrounding areas. These villagers are dependent on the land near volcano for livelihood, the report said.

The volcanic mountain - Mount Sinabung awoke in 2010, before that it was dormant for almost four centuries. In the last five years, several deaths have occurred in the region because of the eruption, and have forced villagers to evacute homes repeatedly.

The volcano's current spate hasn’t caused any casualties yet, but has caused 10,000 villagers to evacuate the nearby land, Mashable reported.
