London Business School starts Masters in Financial Analysis

Curriculum built on several 'fundamental pillars'

The London Business School has created its first new graduate course in six years with the launch of a masters programme in financial analysis for students with little or no experience of working in the industry. The course, which complements LBS’ existing post-experience masters in finance programme, shows that the UK capital remains a global banking hub despite the ravages of the 2008 financial crisis and an attractive place to study for students from around the world, says an article in ft.com.

The masters in financial analysis curriculum is built on several “fundamental pillars”, consisting of corporate finance, asset management, accounting, financial markets, financial econometrics and global markets, says the article.

LBS consulted with several recruitment companies to understand the needs of employers in the financial services industry when designing the new course’s programme. All agreed that the development of soft skills, such as commitment, communication and commercial awareness, were vital for job candidates in this market, according to an LBS spokesperson.

The first class for the new course will start on 2 September 2016.

While students will be expected to be based in London for the duration of the course, they will take part in up to five-week-long immersion field trips at locations such as Shanghai, Silicon Valley and New York. Read the full article here .
