Childhood fantasies and sci-fi stories of colonies on the moon may soon come true, at the rate NASA is going, according to a study by NexGen Space LLC which is partly funded by NASA.

The announcement, which was made on the 46th anniversary of the Apollo 11 crew's first steps on the moon, claims that humans could return to the Moon in the next decade and live there a decade after. It says that humans could land on the moon and live there and do it all within the existing budget for human spaceflight. For this, public-private partnerships are the way to go, for NASA, with companies like SpaceX, Orbital ATK, or the United Launch Alliance.

These partnerships could cut the cost to lunar inhabitation by a factor of 10, the president of NexGen Space says. To read the entire article, click here .
