Tech companies whose LGBT policies are way ahead

A lot of companies in the Silicon Valley have had LGBT policies in place for a long time

Silion Valley has drawn its share of criticism - sometimes its start-ups and regulations, sometimes its performance issues but many of the businesses have been quicker than the US Supreme Court while deciding for fair benefits for LGBT workers.

Mashable list the companies that have put LGBT policies in place for a long time:

Apple : The company started offering health insurance benefits to its LGBT partners more than two decades ago, Mashable reports.

Microsoft : Another IT giant Microsoft was also among the very first few who prohibit the discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Google : also set trends in LGBT-friendly policies in 2011, when it started covering the cost of gender reassignment surgery for transgender employees, says the report. The company has also assigned 12 weeks parental leave irrespective of gender or sexual orientation.

Twitter : also covers the cost of gender reassignment surgery for employees and offer equal medical benefits for LGBT employees, adds Mashable.

Square : The startup gives its domestic partners same health insurance, vision and dental coverage beefits as married full-time employees.

Airbnb : since its founding in 2008, the travel giant has offered full healthcare benefits and 10 weeks parental leave to all parents. The company like Google and Twitter covers the cost of transition surgery.
