It had received more than 25,000 notices last year under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)

Twitter seems to be tightening knob on trolls, fake celebrity accounts, and jokes by erasing and hiding tweets that are reported as 'stolen' and refering to original poster as 'copyright holder'. The social network is likely to be using copyright rules for such plagiarism, reported Mashable.

Twitter had received more than 25,000 notices last year under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). These requests however, typically were based on pictures and videos with not much attention paid to the actual text of tweets.

Twitter has painstakingly made this information available because the law can be abuses by companies who would that want to suppress the negative attention, according to Mashable.
