AIM-AMA doctoral consortium held at IMT

Brings together participants from 9 countries

The 4th AIM-AMA Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium has kicked off at IMT Ghaziabad today. The consortium brings together more than 50 international professors and scholars on a single platform.

The event saw a huge turnout of research scholars on day one. The participants from various countries such as the US, UK, Canada, China, Singapore, Australia, Germany and Netherlands, apart from delegates from India, attended the event.

Prominent scholars, who are experts in domains of marketing discipline, including branding, retailing, consumer behaviour, entrepreneurship, new product development and customer relationship, addressed the young faculty participants and doctoral fellows at IMT’s new auditorium.

The welcome address was delivered by V Kumar of Georgia State University. Kumar is a recipient of 12 lifetime achievement awards for his work in marketing. In his speech, Kumar spoke on the theme for this year’s Doctoral Consortium: ‘Engaging in a Connected World’. For the next 20 years, the term engagement will be the main catalyst that will impact the world business scenario effectively, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Surinder Batra, Director, IMT Ghaziabad said: “The consortium is a great platform for young doctoral fellows to interact with the world’s top scholars and learn more about the process of getting published in a scholarly journal.”

The co-founders of Academy of Indian Marketing (AIM), Jagdish N Seth and S Neelamegham briefed the audience on the history of AIM, its mission and vision for promoting the research values in developing nations like India.

Speaking about the potential of Indian workforce, Dr. Seth said that India has a great pool of talent and the world is looking at Indian academicians as the next game changer talent.

The plenary session was chaired by Harvinder Singh from IMT Ghaziabad where leaders from the marketing domain, such as Amitava Chattopadhyay, INSEAD; Constantine Katsikeas, University of Leeds; and V. Kumar addressed the doctoral fellows.

The session covered insights of the experts on publishing process like generating ideas for research, conducting empirical studies, responding to reviewers, manuscript revision and resubmission under the topics including journal of marketing, journal of consumer research, marketing science and journal of international marketing.

The day concluded with a ‘Research Dating’ session, where doctoral students and young faculty participants received feedback from experienced faculties on their preferred research topic.
