The Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida, and the Quizzing Club of BIMTECH hosted their national level annual quizzing event, Cognicioun’19, recently. The winners of the eighth annual edition were B Naveen Kumar and R Jayakanthan from TCS and Sai Mitra Constructions respectively, took home a prize of ₹50,000.
The first runners up were S Venkatesh and Hrishikesh Varma, who won ₹30,000. followed by second runners up Ayush Awasthi and Teo Thomas, who won ₹20,000.
The quiz isthe only event conducted at both club and conduit level, where corporates too participate. This year, it was organised in an open business quiz format which saw participants across all ages.
Cognicioun’19 saw over 150 registrations, out of which 72 teams were from corporates and colleges, and an additional 30 quizzing teams from BIMTECH.
SAIL, EY, Deloitte, BNY Mellon, Maruti Suzuki, Bata India, Times Internet, Nexus Consulting, Paytm, Novartis and Hero MotoCorp were among the few corporate teams who participated in the quiz.
Student teams from IIM-Rohtak, IMT-Ghaziabad, MDI, Wellingkar, IMI, IIM-Lucknow, BITS Pilani, Ashoka University, JNU, IIM-Kashipur, SCMHRD, FORE, BHU, IIFT and XLRI Jamshedpur were amongst those who took part in the competition.
The quiz consisted of two rounds. The first round was a preliminary which was put forth in an elimination format. The top six qualified teams went ahead for the second round.
The final round started off slow with contestants being cautious, but once they hit their groove, there was no stopping them.
