Building the next-gen women leaders

Great Lakes organised a leadership programme for She Leads campaign winners

Great Lakes Institute of Management, as a part of its Corporate Learning and Development Programme, organised a three-day residential leadership programme for the winners of the ‘She Leads’ campaign at its Manamai campus near Chennai, in association with Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).

K Saraswathi, Secretary General, MCCI and Vaidy Jayaraman, Associate Dean – Great Lakes Institute of Management, along with CR Rajan, Director – Corporate Learning and Development, Great Lakes Institute of Management, interacted with the participants.

She Leads is a nationwide social media campaign initiated by the British Deputy High Commission of India in partnership with MCCI and Women of Worth, to recognise aspirational young women across India. The campaign, open to graduate and post-graduate students, identified and felicitated 10 women at an event where Kiran Bedi was the chief guest.

The leadership programme covered topics such as emotional intelligence, development economics and leading a team. The finalists participating in the programme were: Gopica Dhawan (Christ University, Bengaluru), Harshitha Puligadda (VIT University, Chennai), Olivia Varnika Dullapalli (Stanley College of Engineering & Technology for Women, Hyderabad), Sanjana S Rao (Christ University, Bengaluru), and Shreya Mervyn Kallingal (School of Excellence, Chennai).

Inaugurating the programme, CR Rajan said, “CLD programme at Great Lakes has always worked towards building and providing support, visibility and development for the next generation leaders.”

Highlighting on the need for women leadership programmes, he added, “This programme will emphasise on practical learning, and equip the participants with knowledge, tools needed to compete and strengthen their leadership skills for delivering positive results in their goals. As the world gets more competitive, every women must be prepared to lead through innovation. This programme will nurture them with these skills and engage them with research and emerging trends that will prepare them for next step.”

K Saraswathi appreciated Great Lakes for coming up with such a programme. She said, “The programme structure was well-organised and designed, and will definitely advance each of the participants’ careers and cultivate them to be among the next generation leaders.”
