Programme aims to meet increasing demand for IB teachers worldwide

California State University, San Marcos (CSUSM) has announced the launch of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Educator Certificate in Teaching & Learning India in Hyderabad.

CSUSM has come up with the fully online certificate programme that includes the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP). Candidates completing this programme will be prepared to teach in any IB school worldwide, with consideration for local government teacher credentialing.

The programme aims to meet the increasing demand for IB teachers worldwide especially in the US. CSUSM is the only university with an India-specific offering and is working to increase the reach of the programme.

The International Baccalaureate Educator Certificate in Teaching & Learning India is a two-semester course of study that can be completed in six months with a non-credit and credit option. This course will have ten semester units that may transfer to another university.

It provides candidates an opportunity to develop theoretical knowledge through field study experience which includes lesson plans, materials along with assessments unique to local curriculum requirements and contexts. It is a cohort model with deep learning and interaction with peers along with continual feedback and online support from faculty.

“The programme is aimed at enhancing the skill sets of people aspiring to be in education sector and helping them in making a mark in the global markets. We are confident that the program will receive a fantastic response from the people here in India,” said Robert Carolin, MA, Executive Director and Associate Dean Office of Global Programmes and Services in a press statement.

IB is introduced with an idea to help candidates achieve their strategic aim of increased access globally and to work with schools and enable them to add an international dimension to their vocational offerings.
