CAT 2015 admit card to be available from October 25

The registration for the test has jumped by more than 15% this year

The admit card for the Common Admission Test 2015 (CAT) 2015 will be available from 1 pm on October 25, 2015, till the day of the exam, according to a notification on the CAT's official website. The admit cards were initially scheduled to be available on October 15But the last date of registration for CAT 2015 was extended by 5 days to September 25 by Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).

This year's CAT has seen a number of changes in the format, largely to attract more non-engineers. The test will include descriptive-type questions and the use of a basic calculator will be allowed during the exam. The registrations for CAT jumped to 2.18 lakh this year, up from 1.89 lakh in 2014, the highest in the past six years

The increase in applicants can be attributed to several factors, according to Sai Kumar, Director, TIME Delhi. “The first factor would be the healthy placements at the IIMs this year and the positive business environment seen in the country which is a cause for great optimism amongst the aspirants,” he says. “The increase in the number of examination centres and the CAT moving to a record 136 cities up from the 99 cities in 2014 has also made the test more accessible.”

The increase in registrations could also be because of long registration window, followed by an extension of 5 days, which netted an additional 35,000 candidates.

“However, CAT 2015 aspirants can expect stiff competition on account of this increase and would need to rev up their preparation to counter the increased number of test takers,” adds Kumar.
