IMI Kolkata organised a faculty development programme recently

IMI Kolkata organised a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) at its campus on January 7 on e-commerce, social media and marketing. The half-day session was taken by Stephane Bourliataux-Lajoinie, Director, International Programme in Service Marketing (Master 2), Beirut, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Assistant Professor at IAE de Tours (University Business School), France.

With enormous technological advancement taking place all across the globe, digital marketing has emerged as an increasingly popular subject in marketing theory and practices. It holds great promise for the development of the emerging nations in the contemporary world.

The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Arindam Banik, Director, IMI Kolkata, delivered the welcome speech. He spoke on the significance of holding such programmes in the context of providing the participants with insights about the dynamics and usage of the online platform to optimise return on investment in every sphere of business.

Stephane deliberated on issues like the changing paradigm of marketing, evolution of online platform, how consumers buy online, how to use the online platforms, analysis of leading online marketing platforms and benchmarking, analysis of the emerging markets and the future of online marketing. He spoke on how digital marketing has completely revolutionised the way buyers and sellers interact.

The FDP witnessed participation from academicians and research scholars from West Bengal as well as other States of India like Assam and Chhattisgarh.
