‘Connect your strength, your passion with your career path’

Sudhakar Rao addressing the gathering in Hyderabad

Branding Director of ICFAI Group addressed students and academicians at Career Utsav 2017

“In higher education, there are now roughly about 50,000 institutions across the country, with over 30 million students enrolled. Opportunities are huge. Connect your strength, your passion with your career path,” said Sudhakar Rao, Director of Branding, ICFAI Group Hyderabad, to a packed audience today at the Career Utsav 2017. The educational event, organised by K2 Learning Resources (India) Pvt. Ltd, was held at Marriot Hotel, Hyderabad.

Rao, who was invited as guest of honour, pointed out that this generation is called ‘Gen Z’. But they are very smart, well connected, ever ready to grab opportunities and solution-oriented. Therefore they should actually be called ‘superstar’ generation. This generation is different from all the others and will certainly leave their mark, he says.

Presenting the dichotomy and irony of human achievements, Rao said, “We have growing incomes on one hand and lack of peace of mind on the other. Despite the availability of advanced medicines , poor health still prevails for people in general due to various reasons. We’ve touched the moon, but do not know our neighbours. We have lots of friends on social media, but no best friends. As youngsters, you all need to watch out for these things”.

“A few offbeat careers that one should consider are sports management, celebrity management, museum study, archaeology, and ethical hacking, among others. A whole new world of work is emerging, such as AI, IoT, Cloud and Cyber Securities,” he said.

Citing examples of great teachers, he quoted Pt Madan Mohan Malaviya, who founded Banaras Hindu University. “The superstar generation must learn to build on creativity, respect the elders and focus on human relations. Only a good human being can become a good officer, good doctor, good engineer, good husband or a good wife,” Rao added.

Chetan Bhagat, author, columnist and motivational speaker, gave an inspiring talk on ‘Do what you love, love what you do’.

Students, eminent academicians and industry experts from various domains like film, media, entertainment, chartered accountancy, engineering, fashion design, IT, architecture, healthcare, management, entrepreneurship, attended the do.
