IIM-A is organising an alumni meet for agri-business students

The Post Graduate Programme in Food and Agri-Business Management (PGP-FABM) at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad is organising an exclusive all-batch PMA/SPA/ABM alumni meet themed ‘Professionalising and reorienting agri-business since inception’ on January 7 and 8 at the IIM-A campus.

The PGP-FABM is a prestigious sector-specific programme firmly rooted in IIM-A’s management culture and philosophy. IIM-A’s commitment to the agri-business sector dates back to its inception when the institute accepted managerial issues related to agriculture, food and other socially significant sectors as part of its thrust areas. In pursuit of this goal, Programme for Management in Agriculture (PMA) was started in 1970.

Over the years, the “agri-business programme” at IIM-A has metamorphosed to meet the needs of the industry, incorporating the best practices and frontiers of agriculture. Today, PMA has evolved into the two-year PGP-FABM, established to transform dynamic and determined men and women into tomorrow’s leaders and decision makers in agriculture, food, rural, developmental and associated sectors. This latest update was necessitated with the emergence of allied sectors of agriculture such as food processing and packaging. The FABM programme is designed to produce specialists in food marketing, food logistics, agri-inputs, agri-finance, and allied areas. Eduniversal (Paris), a global ranking and rating agency specialising in higher education, has consistently ranked the FABM programme the best globally in agri-business and food industry management.

The alumni meet will see participation of former students of various editions of the programme. The list of special invitees includes Parmesh Shah, Lead Rural Development Specialist, The World Bank (PGP SPA 1980-82), Abhinay Choudhari, Co-founder, BigBasket (PGP SPA 1995-97), and Prof. Ashish Nanda, Director, IIM-A (PGP 1981-83). The event will feature speaker sessions by Abhinandan K Jain, Anil Gupta, and Vasant Gandhi among others.
