Daan Utsav at IIM-B concludes with ‘One Day on Campus’

The event saw 76 people, from all walks of life, participate in it

‘One Day at IIM Bangalore’, an event organised by Vikasana, the social impact club run by IIM Bangalore students, was held on October 8, which also marked the conclusion of Daan Utsav — the Joy of Giving Week celebrations on campus.

As many as 76 individuals got to experience the life of an IIM Bangalore student for a day. The participants were aged between 15 and 54 years; some had even travelled all the way to Bengaluru from Delhi!

After Prof G Raghuram, Director, IIM-B, welcomed them to the campus, participants attended lectures in Organisational Behaviour, Marketing, and Economics. These were taken by Prof Sourav Mukherji (Dean of Academic Programmes), Prof YLR Moorthi (Marketing faculty), and Prof Rupa Chanda (RBI Chair in Economics), respectively.

The lectures were followed by a group activity where participants were mentored on the case study methodology by Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) students. Thereafter, they worked in groups to solve and present a case to a jury.

A campus tour was also arranged for the participants. Of particular interest was locations at which the popular film, 3 Idiots , was shot. Post this, they enjoyed cultural performances by the dance and music student clubs of the institute. They were given ‘Daan Utsav’ T-shirts as a token of appreciation. The proceeds from the ‘One Day at IIMB’ event will go to DESIRE Society, an NGO based in Bangalore that works for the welfare of HIV-affected children.
