Deakin University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Rising Pune Supergiants, as the Official Sports Management University Partner for the ninth season of the Indian Premier League.
The MoU was signed by Jane den Hollander, Vice Chancellor & President, Deakin University, Australia and Raghu Iyer, CEO, Rising Pune Supergiants.
From a sport management perspective there are strong outcomes expected out of the partnership through strategic activities which include various engagements like student internships, research in areas of importance for development of sports and activities to promote sports education in the region.
“Deakin’s partnership with the Supergiants, a team consisting of some of the strongest players—not only on the field but also off the field, further strengthens our commitment to ensure that our students have the opportunity to gain strong industry experience while they study,” Hollander said.
“The academic component in the association with Deakin would help the team immensely and I believe that the outcome will enable us serve a worthy case for research and learning. We are excited about the partnership and look forward to helping create ever-growing value in the years to come,” said Raghu Iyer, CEO, Rising Pune Supergiants.
Through the association, the partners will work on promoting sports education in India through research and master classes in critical areas of sports like marketing, branding, sponsorships, development, fan engagement, player performance analysis, etc.
