TeamLease to train around 500 students across colleges

The staffing solution company, TeamLease Services has entered into a strategic tie-up with University of Delhi to offer BFSI (Banking Financial Services & Insurance) industry oriented skill training programmes across undergraduate colleges in the university's North Campus. The company will train around 500 students across the colleges and will offer business correspondent, equity dealer and mutual fund agent courses.

Each of the courses uses multi-modal training approach combining both theory and practical exposure. Currently the course is conducted at IP College for Women, Miranda House and Dr. Zakir Husain College.

“Banking and financial services is one of the burgeoning sectors in the region. By 2017, the region alone is expected to create around 33 per cent of the total employment generated by the BFSI industry," said Neeti Sharma, Senior Vice President TeamLease Services, speaking about the courses. "We are confident that such collaborations will not only enable students to take advantage of the opportunity and get gainful employment, it will also create a pool of skilled talent for the industry to recruit from.”

According to National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), though BFSI industry is estimated to create 2.45 lakh jobs by 2017, the sector is plagued by unemployment. More than 74 per cent of workforce in the industry are inadequately skilled calling for programmes that addresses the gap.

The objective of the partnership is to provide students with systematic training and certificates of competency that will improve their employability potentials. The different programmes offered are developed by NSDC through Sector Skills Councils to bridge the gap and meet the industry requirement.
