FM Sitharaman to deliver convocation address at Nirma University

This year, the institute will confer degrees to 52 PhD, 798 postgraduate and 1,530 graduate students

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to deliver the convocation address at Nirma University's 29th Convocation Ceremony to be held online on March 20. The virtual event, wherein 2,380 students would receive graduation, post-graduation and PhD degrees. Karsanbhai K Patel, President, Nirma University, will preside over the event, an official statement informed.

This year Nirma University will confer degrees to 52 PhD, 798 postgraduate and 1,530 graduate students. Among the graduating students, 1,557 are male students and 823 are female students, a statement from the University said.

Of the 798 postgraduate students, the University would confer degrees to 209 MTech, 1 MTech (by Research), 70 MCA, 49 MPharm, 83 MSc, 35 LLM, and 351 MBA students.

Similarly, of the 1,530 graduate students, 997 BTech, 105 BPharm, 75 BArch, 44 BPlan, 61 BCom (Hons), 128 BA-LLB (Hons), 57 BCom-LLB (Hons) and 63 BBA students would receive graduate degrees in the convocation.

The University would present 59 medals to 51 students for their exemplary performance in academics. Out of these 21 are male members and 30 are female members.

Established as a statutory university in 2003 under a Special Act passed by the Gujarat Government, Nirma University has areas of specialisations in the academic disciplines of Technology and Engineering, Management, Law, Pharmacy, Science, Architecture & Planning, Commerce and Design.
