Great Lakes Institute receives NBA accreditation

Course now qualifies for a grant of equivalence by the Association of Indian Universities

The two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programme at Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), with the period of validity of two academic years (2016-2017 and 2017-2018) effective March 10.

The NBA is a part of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Act for periodic evaluations of technical and management institutions and professional programmes that based on specified norms and standards recommended by the AICTE council. The expert committee from NBA visited the Great Lakes Chennai campus on December 17 and 18, last year evaluation. Following the review, as per guidelines, eligibility and criteria, the board granted the candidature for two academic years.

Announcing the news, Dr. Bala V Balachandran, founder, Dean and Chairman, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chancellor – Great Lakes International University, said, “With AMBA and SAQs accreditation in the past, the NBA approval is another feather on the cap for Great Lakes, Chennai. This not only ensures the two year program with quality assurance and global recognition, but also the additional student intake would enhance our diversity factor.”

This also allows the course to qualify for a grant of equivalence by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The Expert Committee will review the program annually, which will allow the extension or renewal of the accreditation, Dr. Bala added.

The two-year PGDM at Great Lakes has a focus on emerging economies, growth factor and demanding needs of an ever changing market place. The programme offers specialisations in Marketing, Finance, IT, Systems and Operations Management, Strategy and Analytics, and Human Resources.
