Jagdish Sheth addressed the MICA Community in a Research Colloquium

Global thinker, scholar and thought leader Jagdish Sheth addressed the MICA Community in a Research Colloquium held on February 7. He spoke about ‘how digital technology will transform higher education’, and gave insights on the future classroom environment, education technology and digitisation of academics.

Talking about how digital technology will transform higher education, he said there will be a shift from the historical three ‘R’s of teaching — reading, writing and arithmetic — to three I’s of learning — interactive, integrated and individualised.

He further explained how flipped classroom environment — with online lectures and class discussions — will become the new normal, and how textbooks will be video chapters with supplemental print materials. This, he believes, will lead to democratisation of scholarship, speeding up of research and open access journals.

The Research Colloquium at MICA has had a rich and honoured heritage. It has witnessed the best of speakers, researchers and industry experts address the institute, and has hosted distinguished academics of the Marketing and Communication domain like Dr Rajan Varadarajan, Dr Jyotika Ramaprasad, Dr Philip Kitchen, Dr Altaf Merchant, and Dr Ramadhar Singh in last six months.
