ICFAI Business School conducts International Case Study Conference

A special book on cases on IKEA, developed by IBS, was also released

The International Case Study Conference 2017 (ICSC 2017) was conducted at ICFAI Business School on October 6 and 7. The conference was inaugurated by Anna-Carin Mansson, Country Manager HR, IKEA India, who was the chief guest for the event.

In her address, Anna-Carin spoke about the innovative talent management practices and culture at the world’s largest furniture retailer. She also highlighted the shared values at IKEA and its diversity initiatives. Outlining the company’s ambitious plans in India, she said that IKEA will launch its first store in Hyderabad in spring of 2018. A special book on cases on IKEA, developed by IBS, was released by the her.

J Mahender Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of ICFAI University, Hyderabad, welcomed delegates and highlighted the achievements and contributions of the world-class Case Research Center (CRC) at IBS, reiterating how the university supports the development of the case method of teaching. SV Seshaiah, Director of IBS, highlighted the importance of case writing and how it uniquely prepares students for the future.

Debapratim Purkayastha, Conference Director and Head of the CRC, thanked the dignitaries and spoke about how IKEA always led the industry in various areas of management practice, making any case study on it popular in B-schools worldwide.

A total of 44 cases were shortlisted to be presented at ICSC 2017. These included cases from XLRI, NMIMS University, Goa Institute of Management, Symbiosis International University, National Institute of Fashion Technology, Aligarh Muslim University, International School of Informatics & Management, and OP Jindal University.
