IIFT wins inaugural RBI Policy Challenge

Winning team to be given opportunity to intern with RBI in a department of their choice

A group of students from Delhi-based Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) have jointly won the inaugural edition of RBI Policy Challenge 2016.

The winning team from IIFT, mentored by faculty Jaydeep Mukherjee, comprised four students: Harshita Solanki, Rajat Malik, Sheryl D'souza, and Ganesh Sukumar. The team emerged winner over 260 participating teams after regional and zone-level rounds.

The national round was held in Mumbai on April 5, under which the teams were assigned a monetary policy related topic involving hypothetical scenarios and they were required to make a presentation.

Team from IIFT was awarded a trophy and a cash prize of ₹1 lakh. The members of the winning team would also be given an opportunity to intern with the Reserve Bank of India for a period of three months in a department of their choice.

The final round’s panel included RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan; Urjit R. Patel, Deputy Governor of RBI; S S Mundra, Deputy Governor, RBI; Errol D’Souza, Faculty, IIMA; Ashima Goyal, Faculty, Indira Gandhi Institute for Development Research, Mumbai; Sajjid Z. Chenoy, Chief India Economist and Executive Director, J P Morgan; and Pranjul Bhandari, Chief India Economist, HSBC.
